Absence from Work Certificates

Your local PharmaOne Pharmacy can provide an Absence from Work Certificate for personal or carer's leave, allowing you to obtain evidence for your employer without the need for a GP appointment. This convenient service supports timely access to care while helping you manage short-term illness, injury, or caring responsibilities.

An Absence from Work Certificate is used to confirm that an employee is unable to attend work due to:

• Personal illness or injury (Personal Leave), or
• The need to care for a sick, injured, or dependent family or household member (Carer's Leave)

Who Can Request a Certificate

A PharmaOne pharmacist may issue an Absence from Work Certificate to a person requiring evidence for either:

• Personal Leave, or
• Carer's Leave

Appointment Requirements

No appointment is required for this service. Walk-ins are welcome during normal trading hours at your local PharmaOne Pharmacy.

Consultation Process

A face-to-face consultation with the pharmacist is required. A certificate may be issued if, in the pharmacist's professional opinion:

• You are unfit for work due to a minor illness or injury within their scope of practice
• The request is appropriate for personal or carer's leave purposes only

For Carer's Leave, the pharmacist may also request to see the unwell family or household member where appropriate.

All assessments and advice are provided in the capacity of a pharmacist, not as a medical practitioner.

Duration of Certificates

Certificates can typically be issued for up to two days. Requests for longer periods may require referral to a medical practitioner at the pharmacist's discretion.
