RUM Program

Return of Unwanted Medicines (RUM) Program

Keeping expired or unwanted medications at home can be dangerous, particularly for children, pets, and other household members. Unsafe disposal, such as throwing medicines in the bin or flushing them down the toilet, can also cause serious harm to the environment and waterways.

PharmaOne Pharmacies proudly participate in the Return of Unwanted Medicines (RUM) Program, a free, Government-funded initiative that allows the safe and responsible disposal of unwanted medicines.

You can return:

  • Expired medications
  • Unwanted or unused prescriptions
  • Over-the-counter medicines
  • Tablets, capsules, liquids, creams, and inhalers

Our pharmacists ensure all returned medicines are securely collected and disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner.

Why Use the RUM Program

  • Reduces the risk of accidental poisoning and misuse
  • Protects children, pets, and vulnerable members of the community
  • Prevents environmental contamination
  • Provides a safe, free, and convenient disposal option

Simply bring your unwanted medicines to your nearest PharmaOne Pharmacy - no appointment required. Safe disposal protects your home and your community.
